    It can’t even charge the battery, so the battery runs down to 0 and if there is ever a power interruption the computer blacks out in the bad way. Now the power is cutting out at random times, because this thing is a piece of junk, as mentioned in the title.

    I purchased this product for my Dell Inspiron 700m to replace the original adapter that my cat kept chewing through and finally shorted out.

    The first thing that I noticed is that while the AC power cord from the adapter to the wall outlet is the same length as my original adapter, the cord from the adapter to my laptop is about 2 feet shorter than the original. While the old adapter sat on the floor, this one dangles a bit off the floor — which I’m not too crazy about — and I had to purchase an extension cord to make up for the short reach to the wall outlet. I gave it four stars because of the short cord — I would have given it 5 had the cord been as long as the original.

    Otherwise, the device works just fine. And ironically, my cat hasn’t chewed on it yet.

    This is a good generic adapter for my Dell laptop. The only drawback is that the cord from the adaptor to the laptop is not long enough and I have had to attach a hook to the back of the desk so that the adaptor does not hang free and its weight pull off the plug from the laptop.
