How do I stop my Fujitsu Esprimo V5505 Laptop loudly beeping when the AC power is plugged in or removed?

4 February 2010 2 Comments

I have tried the the Windows sound settings (Vista) but to no avail. I also tried removing/inserting the power cable during Windows startup and it still made this (very loud) beep sound, so maybe that indicates it is a Fujitsu setting? It causes me no end of problems when I have to plug my laptop in whilst in a lecture or the library!

Go to the sound options in vista again. Now If i remember correctly, go into the options and choose “Properties” now look for an option that says pc speaker. Check it and then go back to the main option page. Click mute under pc speaker and that should do it.

I’d think that there would be an option in the BIOS to set whether or not it beeps. If it’s using the PC speaker, it’s probably a BIOS setting, if it can be set. I know some do this if you don’t have an OEM adapter, because 1) you might have incorrect voltage going to the laptop but really because 2) you didn’t give them more $$ for a new one after the original one broke.

    good luck
