How can I find my gateway laptop’s serial number if it rubbed off?

I want to use the free upgrade to windows 7. This requires the serial number, which rubbed off. The laptop is a gateway NV52, how can i find the serial number?

    On the original sales receipt.
    Go to the manufacturers website and log into the account you set up when you registered the lap top and operating system.

    Some computers keep a copy of the serial number stored in CMOS, along with the BIOS parameters.

    Go into “Setup” during boot (not sure how you do that on a Gateway) and take a close look.

    Or you might find it in “Control Panel” | “System”, on one of the tabs.

    Try getting this, SIW system info. http://www.gtopala.com/ do not install the tool bar. Look at the hardware tab it you you loads of info about your system.
    The only other way is to just go by your model number if for support reasons.
