Laptop Repair Businesses Grow

16 December 2009 No Comment

I feel I am safe in saying that the laptop industry is growing, and so are the amount of broken laptops. A broken laptop is a bit more difficult to fix because laptops are packaged very tightly, so you need a little more expertise when fixing laptops.

You may get frustrated if your laptop monitor suddenly blacks out, and starts to make weird noises, but laptop repair shops have certainly been smiling. A great example of this would be Crescent Technology.

They started out just three guys fixing laptops. They began repairing broken laptops because educated forecasting led them to believe that laptops would eventually start to out-sell, and out-use traditional desktop computers.

Like I said before, there were just three of them who started repairing laptops in 2006. Since then they have gotten work from all over, and not just local area people. Businesses from all over were outsourcing this work to them as well.

Best Buy for example started sending laptops to them by the truck loads, because the big distribution giant couldn’t handle all the work themselves.

For a fee of $185, you can get your laptop fixed. If you tack on another $85, they will have it done for you in 3 hours. That all seems well and good. Unfortunately I don’t see this lasting much longer.

If you start searching for a new laptop, you can find them as low as $400 now, and I expect this price to keep falling in the future as new technology is constantly being innovated. So charging $185, or $270 to get a laptop fixed that didn’t cost much more than that doesn’t seem very reasonable.

For now, however, people are making a killing off of fixing laptops and notebooks. If you yourself know a thing or two about repairing laptops, I suggest you give this a try yourself.

You can find great deals there on broken laptops and other as-is laptops, and if you can fix them, you could certainly sell them for a profit.
