I have a gateway laptop (system model MT3707) with Vista Home Premium. I don’t have a problem connecting to my router but if i lose the connection it wont connect to any wifi in the area for about 10 to 30 minutes unless i restart. Any ideas on what i should do?

I bought a laptop gateway before approximately 5 years came that with a copy of Windows XP. Laptop is not dead and thus copy of Windows is any more use-used I legally to install, the Windows copy on another computer (that is no gateway)?
